Sonny Lee Clemons

.A celebration of life for Sonny L. Clemons, who died April 27, 2019, was held Saturday, May 4, at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Jimmy Horton, pastor, Rev. Cindy Causey eulogist. Burial was in New Community Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mr. Clemons was born on March 28, 1936 in Jasper County to the late Emma Kate White. At an early age, he joined White Chapel C.M.E. Church in Hillsboro where he served faithfully. He was self-employed for many years, and later he worked for Feldspar Inc., where he retired after 37 years of service.

A daughter, Pricilla Clemons Brown, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 60 years, Mrs. Betty L. Clemons; three sons, Tommy (Christine) Clemons, Lorenzo (Lamon) Clemons, and Danny (Mary) Clemons, all of Hillsboro; a daughter, Penny Clark of Covington; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Ebb Barber, Jr., and Benjamin Whitening of Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Hustur of Covington and Gloria Vinson of Hillsboro, and a host of cousins and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
