Trisha Yearwood Comes Home
Monticello native and country music star, among numerous other things, Trisha Yearwood, will arrive in Monticello tomorrow, August 30, shortly after 5 p.m. for a CD signing to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Elected officials from the city, county, region and state will meet with Trisha first, then Trisha will cross the Square and begin signing CDs.
The CDs, and other merchandise, can be purchased in the “pop-up shop” which will be located on the Square where Sunrise Thrift Store was located. Upon purchase, fans will get an arm bracelet which allows them in line for an autograph or two.
There will be no parking at all on the Square Friday, as law enforcement officials are trying to streamline traffic while Trisha and many fans are in town. It is difficult to anticipate how many people will be here, but several radio stations are setting up shop, and Trisha’s book signings in the past have attracted crowds.
All pedestrians, which is everyone as there is no parking on the Square, will be directed to cross at crosswalks where deputies will be in place to streamline both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Because long lines are anticipated, and the signing begins at 5:30 p.m., many local restaurants will be open late to serve our visitors. A page inside this newspaper features a welcome to Trisha, a map of where to park, find restrooms, and other pertinent information. Restaurants on and around the Square are staying open late and/or offering specials to keep everyone comfortable while they wait their turn to meet and greet Trisha Yearwood.
Everyone is reminded the community will be on display, so please greet our visitors and welcome them to our community.
