Opal Nell Goolsby

Funeral services for Ms. Opal Nell Goolsby, who died August 31, 2019, were held Saturday, Sept. 7, at the chapel of Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 923 Funderburg Drive in Monticello. Rev. Dr. Jimmy Horton officiated, burial was in South View Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Calvin Alexander, Jack Alexander, Rev. Tommie L. Robinson, Alray Goolsby, and Gary Watson.

Ms. Goolsby was born to the late Jim Henry and Olivia Goolsby on February 10, 1938 in Monticello.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie James Goolsby, Ira Goolsby and Morris Goolsby.

Survivors include two brothers, Jim Henry Goolsby (Ella) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Ted Goolsby of Riverdale; a sister, Ada Lou Coatney of Covington, 60+ nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
