Junior Pro Cougars Lose
Piedmont Academy’s Junior Pro Football team returned to the field on Sept. 11 falling to Flint River 25-6 in a home contest.
Jake Adamson scored a 60-yard touchdown for the young Cougars. The offense was able to move the football on several possessions but was not able to reach the endzone for additional points.
Gavin McCart, one of the team’s leading rushers, had to leave the game with an injury.
The defensive effort was led by Braxton Floyd, Hunter Thompson and Coby Cook. Corbett Crews, Davis Downs, Kason Martin, Reid Carter and Weston Webb also contributed defensively.
Flint River was able to score on several long runs. The Piedmont team has no substitutes so each player competes on offense and defense the entire contest. Flint River, by comparison, had 20 players on its roster.
Piedmont’s Junior Pro Team will return to action Thursday against Strong Rock at home. The game begins at 6 p.m.
