Voters Must Be Registered by October 7

Gail Harrell and Bobby Jacobs are vying for the Mayor Pro-tem seat on the Monticello City Council in an election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 5.

All city residents who are registered to vote are eligible to vote in the race. Voters must be registered by Monday, Oct. 7.

Anyone who is uncertain about his registration status may check with Chief Registrar Carole Norris at the Courthouse, 706-468-4908.

Those who are registered may begin voting on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Absentee ballots will be in very soon, just call to request one if needed.

The city has staggered elections, with two council members and the mayor pro-tem post eligible this year. However, Councilwomen Cynthia Miller and Jenny Murphy have no opposition so their names will appear on the ballot without opposition.
