Shotgun Team Competes in Sparta

Several of Piedmont Academy’s shotgun team members competed in the Youth Sporting Clay Championships recently at Old Hudson Plantation in Sparta.

Eli Waits finished fourth in the super sporting division while Dylan Thompson finished second in junior varsity men.

Rhett Harris took second place in the intermediate men division and Rayce Vaughn finished second in novice men.

Waits was runner-up in the 5-stand senior men division and Drew Maddox finished fifth in JV men. Harris also was runner-up in intermediate and Vaughn was the winner in novice.

Thompson finished third in skeet for JV men. Harris was first for intermediate while Jake Vaughn was third and Emory Hilliard was fourth.

Maddox finished third for the JV for sporting clays.

“The kids are doing great this year and improving with each shoot,” said coach Stacy Waits.
