Lillie Bell Greenway Holland

Lillie Bell Greenway Holland, age 92, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at The Retreat Nursing Home.

Lillie Holland was born in Homer, Ga. to the late Thomas Greenway and Ivalee Mannie Greenway. She lived all of her early life in Morgan County. At the age of 15, Lillie moved to Macon to work in a fuse factory that made ammunition for the Army. While living in Macon, she met the love of her life, Arvin Holland.

Arvin and Lillie moved to Alabama and were married on May 2, 1944. She lived with his parents while he was stationed in England until his discharge from the Army. They raised five children in Alabama until hardships brought them to Georgia for work in 1956.

They worked on farms and later, Lillie went to work at Monticello Manufacturing. In 1969, after delivering her last child Margie, Lillie became a homemaker. She lived in Shady Dale until moving to The Retreat Nursing Home in 2015.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin Lester Holland; son, Tommy Holland; grandson, Greg Holland; and 10 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Pam) Holland of Monticello, Elizabeth Williamson of Monticello, William Holland of Shady Dale, Jerry (Rená) Holland of Monticello and Margie (Bobby) Moore of Shady Dale; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale. Interment will be held in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Revs. Ed Westbrook and Jeremy Tondee will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Williamson, Jr., Andrew Williamson, Mitchell Williamson, Donny Williamson, Robert Moore, Brian Holland and Timber Edge.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Elizabeth Williamson, 1522 Clay Road, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
