Tiebreaker Counts, Again, in Final Football Contest
This is Sara Riley’s first year playing The Monticello News football contest, and she started out gangbusters. She has four chances for the Grand Prize on the Honor Roll, and now she has a win under her belt.
Ms. Riley correctly picked the winners of 14 games listed, as did several players, and she was closest on the tie-breaker guessing 50 points would be scored in LSU’s defeat of Georgia, 37-10.
For her effort, she picked up a $25 prize from Miriam Yoder at Yoder’s General Store on the Square, sponsor of the week.
A lot of people made the honor roll this week, including some who had not previously made it, making them eligible for the Grand Prize. The winner of the Grand Prize will be drawn this Saturday, Dec. 14, during festivities on the Square. At the end of this article will be a list of the honor roll. Please look at it. If you feel your number is not right, contact us immediately, 706-468-6511, so we can be sure it’s right for the drawing Saturday.
Other players who got 14 right, but were further off on the tie-breaker, include Rusty Pittman, Chris Pittman, Antonio Dumas, J. Matt Tumlin, and Ed Hall. Many others had 12 or 13 right to make the honor roll.
