Matthew Leonard ‘Matt’ Faulkner

Matthew Leonard “Matt” Faulkner, age 64, of Rutledge, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at Budd Terrace Nursing Facility in Decatur.

Matt Faulkner was born on February 18, 1955 in Atlanta to the late Warren Donald Faulkner and LaVaile Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Faulkner and sisters, Donna Sanders and Cheryl Johnston.

Matt played football at Monticello High and after graduating in 1973; he joined the Navy and served four years during the Vietnam Conflict. He attended Gwinnett Technical Institute and worked as an electrical technician. He enjoyed watching sporting events especially football and baseball, and he enjoyed yard work.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Petty Faulkner of Rutledge; step-children, Melissa (Matt) Jarrett of South Carolina, Jessica (Joshua) Chambers of Bethlehem, Bethany Melville of Monroe; eight step-grandchildren; brother and sisters, John Faulkner of Montana, Crystal Thompson of Cherokee, N.C. and Amy Robinson of St. Simons; and aunt, Merry H. Faulkner of Monticello.

A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at Jordan Funeral Home.
