Art, Talent Showcase Winners Named

The Monticello Civic Club held its annual Les Steele Art and Talent Showcase last Friday evening, and those attending got a treat. Some nine acts competed in kindergarten through fifth grades; three acts only in the middle school talent, and seven acts entertained the crowd in the senior division.

In addition, art winners who were present were recognized, as the artwork was judged before Friday’s festivities began.

Winners in the senior division for talent included Jaylyn Wyatt, singing Stone Cold; King Smith and Brooklyn Dalton who performed an original composition, Strings, with both of them singing, and Mr. Smith playing the guitar, and band members Nathanael Mann, J.K. Strength, and Ryan Henderson all three of which acts tied for second place, and Ryan Henderson took first place for his solo on the guitar, For That Second.

In the Middle School division, Jaxon Lynn took first place for playing the piano, My Time Machine/Arabesque; Shiloh Airington placed second singing Sad Song, and Leigha Perkins and Georgia Loggins, singing and keyboard, Truce, took third place.

In the kindergarten through fifth grade division winners included a tie for first between Ben Wojdacz, singing and guitar, Hey Jude and Isabel White, playing the piano, Overture. Second place was a tie between Lexi Tillman who played an original piano composition, Winter’s River, and Ryker Harty who played the violin, Bouree. Third place went to the duet of Andi McFarland and Faraday Harty, who had a singing/dance routine called Good Mornin’.

Art winners pictured include Kaylee York, first place, high school; Willow Rachor, second place, high school; Jessica McEwen, third place, high school; Carley Whitmire, first place, middle school; Mark Myles, second place, middle school; Alexi Tillman, first place, grades K-five; and Rory Attaberry, third place, K-five.

Other art winners included Katelyn Dorough, second place, K-5; and Samira Campbell and Ava Burnette, honorable mention; Brody Bush, third place, grades 6-8; and Ashleigh Rye, honorable mention; Brody Bush, third place, middle school, and Ashleigh Rye, honorable mention, middle school. Mari Jablonski received honorable mention for the high school.
