Qualifying Continues Until Friday

Qualifying for a number of local and regional positions continues through noon Friday, March 6, but many people seeking election or re-election had qualified by Wednesday morning.

Local qualifiers include Donnie Pope for Sheriff; Angela Walsh for Tax Commissioner; Andrea Brown for Judge of Probate Court; LeeAnn Airington for Clerk of Superior Court, and Chrissy Mason for Chief Magistrate.

Erin Lynch, District 2, and Bill Schilling, District 4, both qualified for re-election to the Jasper County School Board.

Long-time District 1 Commissioner Carl Pennamon qualified for re-election. For county commission, District 3, incumbent Don Jernigan and challenger Pat Tria had both qualified by Wednesday morning.

Also, Susan Holmes of Monticello has qualified to be re-elected to the state House of Representatives, and Burt Jones of Jackson has qualified to be re-elected to the State Senate.
