FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Jasper County firefighters responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning, and found this structure at 8175 Rock Eagle Road in flames. Firefighters from Station 3, Monticello; Station 2, Shady Dale; Station 5, Piedmont, and Station 3, Jackson Lake responded with three tankers, two engines, an two medics. It took them most of the night to extinguish the blaze, then they were called back about 7 a.m. The state fire marshall and Jasper County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire. The house was not occupied, and had been for sale for some time.
