Special Election Set for District 1 Commissioner

A special election to fill the seat of District 1 Commissioner Carl Pennamon, who died September 6, will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

A run-off, if necessary, shall be held on April 13, 2021.

Qualifying for the special election shall be held at the office of the Probate Judge, Superintendent of Elections, Jasper County Courthouse, Room 111, Monticello, beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, and ending at noon Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. The qualifying fee shall be $216.

The deadline to register to vote in that election is the close of business on February 8, 2021. Advance voting will begin on February 22, 2021, from 8:30 am. to 4:30 p.m.
