The Piedmont Academy varsity softball team returned to action last Saturday with a convincing 17-1 road win against Bethlehem Christian Academy.

The Lady Cougars sealed the deal quickly with 14 runs in the top of the first inning. Piedmont also finished the contest with 14 hits.

Kylee Keck, Marissa Holder and McKayla Arnold each had two hits while Arnold and Ava Anglin both drove in four runs. Holder added an RBI in what was a very solid offensive performance for the Lady Cougars.

Holder, Haley Ann Frank and Abby Arnold each drew a walk.

Emily McEwen earned the win going three innings in the pitcher’s circle and recording one strikeout.

In two matchups this fall Piedmont outscored BCA 32-1.

The Lady Cougars are scheduled to face region foe Gatewood on the road in Eatonton today, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. The team will then travel to Macon for a region game with Windsor Academy on Tuesday. Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.

Piedmont (6-2-1 overall) will also have back-to-back region games against LaGrange Academy on Thursday, Oct. 1 (home) and Monday, Oct. 5 (away). Wins in these final four region games would help put the Lady Cougars at the top of the standings.
