Lady Cougars Post Big Win

The Piedmont Academy Middle School softball team posted another impressive win on Monday.

The Lady Cougars defeated the Academy for Classical Education (ACE) 17-3 on the road in Macon. Piedmont had 12 hits in the contest.

After jumping out to a 4-2 lead after the first inning, the Lady Cougars scored five more runs in the top of the second, three in the third and five in the fourth.

Emily Whitwell helped lead the offense with three hits while Sarah Ellen Stroud and Kylie Keck both had two. Whitwell and Kayle McCart both drove in three runs with Stroud collecting two RBI.

Carlie Wilbanks and Carly Meredith both drew two walks while Whitwell also reached base on a walk.

Whitwell worked 3.1 innings for Piedmont and recorded eight strikeouts.

The Lady Cougars returned to action on Tuesday and were defeated by visiting Bethlehem Christian Academy 11-1.

Piedmont struggled offensively managing just one hit. The Lady Cougars also committed four errors.

BCA used a seven-run top of the second inning to take control of the contest.
