Mrs. Marjorie Ann Greene Jackson

Mrs. Marjorie Ann Greene Jackson, 67, transitioned from this life on September 14, 2020 at home with her family by her side singing her into the arms of her Eternal Savior.

Marjorie, affectionately known as Margie, was born in Jasper County to Roberta “Honey” Greene and the late Frank Greene on May 6, 1953. At a young age, Margie’s parents raised her to be God-fearing and to be a servant for the Lord. For many years, Margie served at Greenwood Baptist Church as the church clerk, Elder Mother, and devoted choir member. Her distinctive soprano voice rang out as she sang one of her favorite melodies, “I Am Redeemed.”

Margie was joined in holy matrimony to Charlie Lee “Snapper” Jackson on December 16, 1974. From this beautiful union, five children were lovingly reared by these two until Snapper’s death in 1993.

While continuing to raise her children, Margie never stopped being the compassionate, caring, dedicated, loving and thoughtful person she was to anyone she encountered.

In her spare time, Margie would cook meals for the holidays for families who she knew were having a hard time. She loved to be in her flower gardens at her home. Spending time with her family was the true joy of her life, even if it meant taking a nap while everyone around her continued to talk and laugh.

Margie worked as transportation secretary and bus driver with the Jasper County Charter System until her retirement in April, 2020. Before her death, Margie had a moment to reflect on her years spent at JCCS. In her own words, “It has been a pleasure working with this school system for all these years. I have enjoyed serving the kids and people of Jasper County.” Margie also worked a number of years at the Jasper County Courthouse where she formed many friendships with the people of this community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lee “Snapper” Jackson; four siblings, Eloise, Edwin, Marilyn, and Michael, and a special nephew, Marcus Davis.

Margie is survived by a loving mother, Roberta “Honey” Greene; three sons, Rydell (June), Antonio “Teo,” Darnell (Julie); two daughters, Kendra, Tierra Clark (Christopher); five grandchildren, Camden, Layla, Charlie, Millie Grace, and Briggs; a brother, Willie Frank Greene (Vera); and dear friends, Gerald “Skeet” and Angela Benton.

She also took on the role of mother and grandmother to her late sister’s children and grandchildren, Tameka (Kenya, Kambria), Marcus (Deshaun), Leonard Jr., (Kenyan, Kamryn, Jordyn, Kobe, Lebron), Latoya.

A homegoing ceremony was held Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m. at Shady Dale Community Cemetery in Shady Dale. Bishop Nicolas Curry officiated.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
