Mrs. Jessie Mae Walker

A celebration of life for Mrs. Jessie Mae Walker, who died September 13, 2020, was held Saturday, Sept. 19, at New Bethel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Jerry L. Williams officiated.

Mother Walker was born September 26, 1926 to Green and Annie Alexander. She was raised on a farm where she helped her father tote water from the spring and helped out around the farm. She attended school in Jasper County. Mother Walker was loved and raised many children in her community. She loved working in the yard and cooking.

Mother Walker as married to Winfred Walker and to this union 11 children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, Winfred Walker, Jr., George Alvin Walker and Felton Stanley Walker; four daughters, Ina Ruth Stinson, Mary Elaine Stone, Meslean Gardner and Karen Lynn Walker; and three sisters, Ina Howard, Odessa Howard, and Eunice Wheeler.

Mother Walker leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Vernon Richard Walker (Ann) of Monticello, Dale Edwin Walker of Atlanta and David Wayne Walker, also of Monticello; a daughter, Jessica Ann Clay (Tommie); three sisters, Mozella Pinksten, Leila Sanders and Carrie Rogers, all of Akron, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
