Mikus Benton

A memorial celebration for Mikus Benton will be held Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at 11 a.m., at 11145 Hwy. 83 south in Monticello. Brother Marv Walker is eulogist.

Mikus Benton was born May 29, 1980 in Jasper County to Barbara Rosetta Roberson and the late Roy Lee Roberson, Sr. On September 13, 2020, God called him home.

He had a “million dollar smile” and was loved by everyone that knew him. Mikus loved sitting on the porch, playing his keyboard and going for a ride. Getting haircuts, taking a bath, getting his teeth brushed or getting his hair combed/brushed, he did NOT like at all! His Aunt Sue called him “Hippy.”

His mother would tell him, you are young, so I’m the “Boss,” but when he got older things changed. She would have to change her thoughts because he became the “BOSS.”

Mikus was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Roberson; brother, Ramon Benton; grandmother, Johnnie Mae Jackson; and uncle, Robert Wayne Jackson.

His memories will be cherished by his beloved and caring mother, Barbara R. Roberson; two sisters, Rosalyn (Hugh) Hession and Tomekia (Patrick) Norwood; and one brother, Roy Lee (Ashley) Robinson, Jr.; three nieces, Keaton, Kali and Kennedy; four uncles, Jimmy Jackson, Derwin (Jackie) Jackson, Richard N. Jackson, all of Monticello, and Kelvin (Sonja) Jackson of Covington; five aunts: Sue A. Kemp, Patricia Holmes, Gwen Wiggins, Valerie (Ervin) Anderson and Senesta Roberson; a great-great-great aunt, Margie Kate Rooks Malone and a host of other relatives and friends. Also caregivers, Lizza Harris and Vicky Bostic.

Final arrangements entrusted to Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 923 Funderburg Drive, Monticello, Ga 31064, 706-468-6625; smithfunhm@bellsouth.net
