High Schoolers To Get Two Days Out
In order to meet the needs of all students enrolled at Jasper County High School, Wednesday, Oct. 7 and Wednesday, Oct. 21 will be designated as digital learning days. Again, this is for Jasper County High School students only.
Jasper County Pre-K, Jasper County Primary School, Washington Park Elementary School, Jasper County Virtual Academy and Jasper County Middle School will run a regular schedule on these days.
The purpose of the digital learning days at the high school level is to allow for our teachers to plan for continued instruction in both online and face to face settings. With the dynamics of high school scheduling, this time is needed in order to meet the demands of both learning environments.
“Many of our high school teachers are spending numerous hours after school and nights/weekends to meet the needs of our students,” said Supt. Kenny Garland. “While our other schools in Jasper County have been able to designate time during the regular instructional day to meet the demands, the high school schedule does not permit for such preparation time.”
The goal of the Jasper County Charter System is to provide quality instruction in both the online and in person platforms.
Currently, the spread of COVID-19 in our schools has been minimal. As of Tuesday, there is only one (1) active case of COVID-19 involving the 2,406 students and 377 staff in the Jasper County Charter System.
“Many of our students and families starting the school year in online instruction are requesting to move back to in person instruction,” said Mr, Garland. . The schools are working toward meeting these requests in a safe and organized manner. As we move forward, it is the intent of our system to move towards normal in-person instruction as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding of the Jasper County Charter System as we make the necessary changes in schedules to promote a safe learning environment of the highest quality.
