Cynthia Ann ‘Cindy’ Crocker Roper

Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Crocker Roper, age 65, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Roper was born on May 22, 1955, in Rock Hill, S.C. to Ethel Louise Massey Crocker and the late Rev. Alvin Dean Crocker. Her family moved to Monticello in 1964. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Frank Byrdic and niece, Jamie Jackson.

Cindy was a graduate of Monticello High School and Tift College. Marvin and she were married on September 14, 1978. She retired from Georgia Pacific and was working as a records tech for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.

Cindy was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching Georgia Tech and the Braves; and loved music, food and spending time with family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Marvin Roper of Hillsboro; children, Shannon Roper of Anderson, S.C., Michael Roper and Erin Roper of Hillsboro; mother, Louise Massey Crocker of Rock Hill, S.C.; brother and sisters, Ken (Charlene) Crocker of Rock Hill, S.C., Lisa (Ben) Prevatt of Monticello and Mary Kay Byrdic of Rock Hill, S.C.; nieces and nephews; and “grand fur-babies”, Beethoven, Yuki and Yoshi.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, at Talmadge Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Charles Roper will officiate. The family requires all that attend to wear masks.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
