Softball Players Sign with ESCC

Monticello Lady Hurricane softball players Allie Jones (left) and Bailey Jenkins officially signed Monday to play softball at Enterprise State Community College in Enterprise, AL.

Both young ladies have played for the Lady Canes for the past four seasons and saw four state playoff appearances, state runner-up as freshmen, third in the state as sophomores, and sweet 16 as juniors and seniors.

Following the signing, Coach Chris Jenkins said, “Enterprise State is a great opportunity for both Allie and Bailey. It’s in a great location, and the school has shown a commitment to softball by investing in the program and facilities. With the makeup of the roster, both girls will compete for playing time right away. Not only is Coach Harrison getting two solid players, she is also getting two leaders.”

The coach continued by saying, “Being on a team that replaced five starters their junior year, and then losing their best hitter and one of the best all-around players in Jasmine Stone, their senior year, required them to step up. They, along with their senior teammates, did a tremendous job in carrying out that role. We’re very appreciative of the work they put in during their four years here, and can’t wait to see the immediate impact they have on the Enterprise team.”

On hand for the signing were family members of both girls, Enterprise coach Traci Harrison, Coach Jenkins, principal Buddy Cain, assistant principal Alicia Moore, teacher Amy Scroggs, Peyton Proctor, and the entire junior varsity and varsity softball teams.
