Danny Barron Seeks Commission Post
Danny E. Barron has announced he is seeking the seat for Jasper County District 1 Commission seat of the late Carl Pennamon.
Mr. Pennamon died in September, and had no opposition in the November election. His term was to begin January 1, 2021.
A special election will be held on Tuesday, March 16, to fill the vacancy. Qualifying for that seat takes place next Wednesday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 18.
Mr. Barron said he wanted to salute the late Commissioner Pennamon for his 36 years of service as District 1 commissioner.
Mr. Barron is a member and trustee at King’s Chapel Community Church, Inc. located in Hillsboro. He says, “I am not a politician; however I am a taxpaying property owner in District 1 and truly understand the importance of fiscal responsibility and accountability to the citizens of Jasper County.
“With your support and as an elected official, I plan on working with the other commissioners to improve the livelihood of our community through good stewardship. I am committed to emulating the degree of professionalism and respect exemplified by the late, long time Commissioner Pennamon.
Mr. Barron was educated in the Atlanta public schools system, and attend Command College through Columbus State University. “I have dedicated 25 plus years to law enforcement which includes state, county and city levels. I’ve worked for several local companies in this community (i.e. Georgia-Pacific and Dexter Axle).
“I am the grandson of the late Elijah Johnson Sr. and late Caroline McAMichael Johnson of Jasper County. My father was the late Dan Edward Barron of Butts County and Rosa Johnson Barron of Jasper County. I am 56 years old and married to Jasper County native Drucilla Sands Barron for 25+ years. We have three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
