Gerald Rashad Brown
A celebration of life for Gerald Rashad Brown, 35, who passed away on December 6, 2020, was held Saturday, Dec. 12, at South View Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Ricky Hammond was eulogist.
Mr. Brown was the husband of Que’Aira Jeffries; they shared 15 years of partnership and seven years of marriage.
Mr. Brown was born July 5, 1985 in Putnam County to the parentage of Jerry Brown and Andrea Hurt. He graduated from Jasper County Comprehensive High School in 2003. For the past 13 years, he was employed by American Woodmark.
He was preceded in death by his older sister, Amanda Nicole Ross; his uncle, Tracey Ross; both grandfathers, J.B. Ross and Bonnie B. Crutchfield, and a great aunt, Betty Hodges.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Que’Aira J. Brown; a daughters, Yasmine Brown and a son, Zaiden Brown, and they are expecting another son, Zhylen Nicolas Rashad Brown, all of Monticello; his mother, Andrea (Bruce) Hurt; sister, Jessica V.A. Ross, both of Eatonton; father/mother-in-law, Alonzo and Hazel Colbert, both of Monticello; a brother-in-law, Alonzo (Twanna) Jeffries, two sisters-in-law, Tiaa Jeffries and Aaliya Barnes, all of Monticello; grandmothers Jessie Pearl Ross of Monticello and Alma Oliver of Atlanta; two aunts, Debra Nims and Sandra (Lamar) Kelly, both of Atlanta; three great aunts, Phyllis King of Atlanta, Evelyn Epps and Vernice Battle, both of Monticello; three aunts-in-law Annie Ruth Farrar, Margaret and Verna Ross, all of Monticello; two uncles-in-law, James Thurman, Sr. of Monticello and Marion Thurman, Jr. of Milledgeville; special childhood friends, Tyrone Thurmond; special friends, Deshawn Dumas, John Whidby, Jr., Ian Moreland, Damien Farrar, Marcus Clemons, Donovan Clemons, Sherry Thurmond, Brittany Stokes, Melanie Diaz, Jackie Banks, Quincy “Peacock” Horton, Rodney Rooks, Drec Banks, Keldric Davis and Carlos Norris.
Also, nieces, Ashunti Mitchell, Damya Williams, Raniyah Bennett, Destiny Jeffries, Tyliya’ Sellars, and Ari’yuanna Jeffries; nephews, Dumir Williams, Kaden Evans, Jordan Jeffries, and Cherrique (C.J.) Goodrum, and a host of other cousins, friends, and associates.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
