Special Election Set March 16

The next scheduled election for Jasper County voters will be for District 1 voters only, and will take place on March 16, says Chief Registrar Carole Norris.

Registration deadline for that election is Tuesday, Feb. 16. Early voting, for District 1 voters only, will take place from February 22 to March 12. Early voting takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with no Saturday voting.

The next 2021 election will be the city of Monticello general election scheduled for November 2. Voters in that election will decide the next mayor of Monticello, as well as council members for Districts 1 and 2. The posts of Councilmen Larry Thurman and David Wease will be voted on.
