Lady Canes Fall to Oglethorpe

The Jasper County-Monticello High School Lady Canes basketball team was finally able to take to the court again on Saturday.

The Lady Hurricanes (1-4 overall) fell to visiting Oglethorpe County 45-26 in a non-region contest. It was the first time since Dec. 22 the Jasper County-Monticello varsity girls were able to play a game.

Several scheduled games this season have been postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.

The team is scheduled to travel to Dodge County High School in Eastman for a region contest at 6 p.m. Currently the Lady Canes are 0-1 in Region 3-AA.

A home non-region game against Social Circle High School is set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

The Jasper County-Monticello High School varsity boys basketball team has been unable to play of late after being quarantined due to the virus.

The boys are slated to play Friday against Dodge County.
