Piedmont Tennis Returns
The Piedmont Academy tennis teams have returned to action but not before plenty of rain and match rescheduling.
Representing the Lady Cougars this spring are seniors Rebekah Hicks and Taylor Smith and juniors Piper Potts, MaLynne Webb, Fleming Sealy, Raleigh Loftin and Hannah Tyler.
The boys roster includes seniors Banks Benton and Beau Bradley and juniors Andrew Parrish, Jayce Wood and Mason Tanner.
The Cougars and Lady Cougars began the season at home against Oak Mountain on March 19.
“It was great to have the opportunity to finally get on the courts,” coach Alison Hildebrant said. “Our girls and boys really hustled and had some great volleys.”
The Lady Cougars fell 5- 0 and the boys were defeated 4-1.
On Monday of this week Piedmont competed on the road against LaGrange Academy at the McClusky Tennis Complex.
“Our girls and boys teams both played hard,” Hildebrant said.
The girls won at number one singles, number one doubles and number two doubles for a 3-2 team victory. Smith fought an hour and a half going to deuce for several times and fell short 8-6 in her match.
The boys earned wins at number three singles and number one doubles won but overall fell 3-2.
