Oliver Eugene Dunn

Funeral services for Oliver Eugene Dunn were held July 14, 2021 at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Eulogist Rev. Frank Norwood.

He passed away on July 9, 2021 in hospice care while battling lung cancer and eventually succumbing to cardiac arrest from a blood clot.

Mr. Dunn was born in Jasper County on May 14, 1950 to the late James “Snoop” Dunn and Rosaline Roberta Farrar (Epps). He was the oldest of eight children who loved fishing and was a diehard Atlanta Falcons fan. He also enjoyed gathering with family, cooking out, listening to music, and playing spades.

At a young age, Mr. Dunn became employed by Delta Airlines and Georgia Tech where he worked as a cook and landscaper. After resigning from work due to health issues, he went to live with his aunt, then later his sister Brenda for 20 years before moving to a senior community.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Johnny Lee Epps.

Survivors include three brothers, Terry Epps (Alex) of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Felix Epps of Gainesville, Fla., and Sydney B. Epps of Avondale Estates, Ga.; three sisters, Brenda Hudson of Decatur, Jackie Smith of Atlanta, and Teresa Epps of Avondale Estates; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
