Warren Samuel ‘Sammy’ Blackwell, Sr.
Warren Samuel “Sammy” Blackwell, Sr., age 86, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at his residence.
Sammy Blackwell was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His parents were the late Bryant Blackwell and Minnie Lou McMichael Blackwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Belle Tillman Blackwell; son, Warren “Butch” Samuel Blackwell, Jr.; and brother and sisters, Bryant Mac Blackwell, Marie Clifton and Annette Dennis.
Sammy served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of Hillsboro Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking. Before retirement, he worked as the planning mill foreman for Georgia Pacific.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Eddie) Williams of Tallapoosa; granddaughters, Nicole Williams (Mathew Schmit) of Tallapoosa and Neely Williams (Billy Madison) of Alabama; and brother, Lee Frith of Mississippi.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2021, at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Rev. Len Woodard officiated.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Hillsboro Baptist Church, P. O. Box 86, Hillsboro, Ga. 31038; or Loraine Dumas Outreach Ministry 150 Sugar Hill Road, Hillsboro, Ga. 31038.
