Ted Goolsby
Ted Goolsby, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Goolsby, was born August 28, 1941 in Monticello. He was the last of seven children.
He departed this life October 6, 2021 in Jonesboro. A service was held in the chapel of Smith and Sons Funeral Home on October 13. Rev. Jerry Williams officiated.
Mr. Goolsby was educated in the Jasper County public school system. For many years, he traveled to work on the farms in New York. He was employed for many years at Monticello Bobbin Mill. His last employment was with the city of Monticello until his retirement. Ted was affectionately known in the community and was loved by those who knew him.
Ted was a mild-mannered, generous, and loving person. Though he was a person of few words, he always had a friendly smile and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He never met a stranger and loved people. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Ted was preceded in eternal rest by two sisters, Ada Lou Coatney and Opal Nell Goolsby; three brothers, Willie James (Boe), Ira (Rooster), and Morris Goolsby; two sisters-in-law, Ann, Vera, and Bernice Goolsby, and a long-time friend and companion, Willie Mae Standifer.
Ted leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, one brother, Jim Henry (Ella) Goolsby of Virginia Beach, Va.; children and grandchildren of his longtime companion and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
