Woman Is Jailed after Chase
Retasha Nicole Seaborn, 34, of Atlanta, is currently in the Newton County Jail and is facing charges in Jasper County after an incident last Thursday.
Ms. Seaborn was visiting her father on Glenview Loop when she became agitated, and law enforcement was called. Ms. Seaborn left the residence on foot, and wound up at Venture Medical Associates on Venture Court.
At that office, a resident was helping her mother into the doctor’s office, while the car was running in the portico. Ms. Seaborn allegedly jumped in the car and took off. The car’s owner attempted to stop her, and was dragged briefly.
Deputies began pursuit, and after a short time, Newton County was notified.
Later Newton County picked Ms. Seaborn up and she is facing charges of obstruction of a law enforcement officer by use of threats or violence; theft by receiving stolen property, aggravated assault on a police officer, and criminal trespass.
She will face similar charges here, including theft by taking, obstruction of a law enforcement office, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
Some area schools were locked down for a brief time while the pursuit took place.
The car was subsequently recovered and returned to the rightful owner, with her belongings intact. There was also a report of a motor vehicle theft from North Warren Street, and report of a phone and cash being taken from a person on Hwy. 16 west.
