JCMS Football Falls in Final Game

The Jasper County Middle School football team faced a tough opponent last and ended up falling 40-0 to Morgan County Middle School.

The Middle School Canes finished in a three-way tie for fourth place but lost on the coin flip to decide the final playoff team.

“It was an unfortunate way to end the season but I am proud of our kids,” said coach Chad Estes. “We made a lot of strides this season.”

JCMS trailed 6-0 to Morgan County after the first quarter.

“We were trying to hang on but they were just better,” Estes said. “I don’t think we played our best but Morgan has a good team and did a good job.”

The Middle School Canes finished tied for fourth with Youth Middle School and Putnam County Middle School. Putnam County won the coin toss and advances to the playoffs as the number four seed.

Morgan County is the number one seed followed by Carver Middle School and Loganville Middle School.

JCMS defeated Putnam County this season and had a chance to defeat Youth.

“I also think on any given day we could have defeated Loganville,” the coach said. “All of our games were close except for the last one.”

Tayshawn Reeves and Cameron Johnson both were praised by their coaches for their efforts against Morgan County last week.
