Piedmont Boys Earn Win Tuesday
Piedmont Academy’s varsity boys basketball team earned a 79-65 victory against visiting Oak Mountain on Tuesday.
The Cougars had one of their best offensive outputs of the season as three players scored 20 or more points. Luke Welch and Ryan Holder both scored 25 points while Spencer Carter added 21 points.
Welch had 10 field goals and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Holder also had 10 field goals and a 3-pointer while going 2-of-5 from the foul line.
Carter had five baskets from 3-point range and three additional field goals.
Piedmont (3-5 overall) trailed 19-18 after the first quarter but used a 24-2 run in the second quarter to lead 42-21 at halftime. The Cougars also outscored Oak Mountain 24-14 in the third quarter.
Oak Mountain’s 30-13 run in the fourth quarter was not enough to rally for the win.
Brody Anderson and Chase Taylor both added four points for Piedmont in Tuesday’s win.
The varsity Lady Cougars did not play Tuesday as Oak Mountain does not have a girls team this season.
