Water & Sewer Authority Approves 2020 Audit

The Jasper County Water & Sewer Authority members voted unanimously at their regular meeting last Tuesday, Jan. 18, to refinance existing USDA loans as soon as possible before interest rates increase further.

The action came after they heard the report on the 2020 audit from Rae Johnston, and they approved the audit. Ms. Johnston commented that they receive their records from Tricia Armistead’s office, and that they were good to work with.

The authority members discussed drilling test wells, and the best location for those test wells, and also the amount of land required for a well and later, for a storage tank. The board members were advised to negotiate a price for land before water is found, as the price can change if they wait.

In discussing improvements, Chairman Ron Burch commented that the authority is 10 years behind in this process.

The authority reviewed suggested revisions to its policy for water customers, and they will vote on them at the February meeting. At that meeting, they will also adopt the Series 2022 Bond Resolution and sign the agreement.
