Samuel Williams

A celebration of life for Samuel Williams, who died January 28, 2022, was held February 5, 2022 at New Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison. Rev. Bernard Hamp, pastor, officiated.

Samuel Williams, oldest of eight children, was born February 1, 1945, to the late Mamie Bell and Sammie Williams. Four siblings preceded him in death—Arlanaster, Willie James, Mary and Sidney. Also, two children, Michael and Gary Williams.

Joined in matrimony to Emma Lucy, to this union four children were born.

Better known as “Shawty,” Samuel worked as a carpenter for many years until his health started to decline. He enjoyed outdoors, music and fast cars. He loved his family and friends. “Show you right!” Samuel watched wrestling with a passion four nights per week.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Emma Williams; daughter, Bell Hardy (Todd) of Covington; sons, Samuel Boswell of Covington, Samuel David and Kendrick Darnell Williams of Decatur; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also, sisters, Willie Bell Stewart of Newborn, Fannie Dennis and Margaret (Ronnie) Smith of Monticello; aunt, Gracie Scott, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special lifelong friend and care giver, Lilly Mae Peacock.
