2022 Tennis Season Begins for Hurricanes

The Jasper County-Monticello High School tennis teams have returned to the court for the 2022 season.

The teams are coached by Patty Cole and Amy Fontaine.

Members of the varsity girls team include Sarah Carnes, McKenzie Walker, Tareva Chine, Jenna Parrish, Lindsey Thomas, M’Kayla Middlebrooks, Kate Schilling, Autumn George, Elizabeth Burnett, Janiah Graziosi Screven, Reagan Mask and Natalie Stanley.

The varsity boys include Noah Pitts, Zach Tomlin, Jake Tingler, Joe Zimmerman, Silas Bell, Will Gibson, Isaac Hyland, Gabriel Garibay, King Smith and Pate Carnes.

The teams opened the new season against Jackson. The boys won 3-2 while the Lady Canes fell 3-2.

The Lady Canes then defeated Dodge County 3-2 while the boys fell 3-2. The girls earned a 4-1 win against GMC while the boys took a 3-2 loss.

The Lady Canes also defeated Walnut Grove 3-2 with the boys falling 4-1.

“Our greatest excitement has definitely been our girls win against Walnut Grove which is a 5A school,” Fontaine said. “We are also proud that our boys played well against Jackson, which was our first time playing them in years.”
