Hurricane Track Has Several Qualify ffor State Sectionals at Region Meet

The Jasper County High School Hurricane track squads had several competitors qualify for the State Sectionals Qualifying Meet that will be Saturday, May 7 as a results of their performance at the Region Meet held the past week.

Competitors that placed in the top four tiers of their event at region will advance. The Hurricane team can boast of one region champion as well, Jakara Tobler in the Girls 400 Meter Dash. Athletes that will advance and their events include:

Shot Put – Ariyah Burke – 4th place

High Jump – Randy Williams – 4th place

Triple Jump – Geralynn Benton – 3rd place

Girls 200 Meter Dash – Jakara Tobler – 2nd place

Girls 1600 Meter Run – Brianna Dalton – 4th place

Girls 3200 Meter Run – Brianna Dalton- 4th place

Girls 4 x 400 Meter Relay- Markinya Thomas, Brianna Dalton, Ariana Johnson & Jakara Tobler – 3rd place

Boys 4 x 400 Meter Relay -Geralynn Benton, Michael Abner, Jacarian Grier & Kemarion Thomas – 3rd place

Boys 4 x 200 Meter Relay – Travis Teran, Randy Williams, Jalen Stewart and Shamarian Greene- 4th place

Girls 4 x 100 Meter Relay – Khayden Hope, Oriayha Thurman, Stevi Davis and Ariana Johnson – 4th place

Boys 4 x 100 Meter Relay – Shamarian Greene, Ardarius Benton, Jacarian Grier and Tyler Banks – 4th place

Girls 3200 Meter -Brooklyn Dalton – 5th place

Boys 3200 Meters-Will Garvin – 10th place and Michael Abner – 11th place

Girls High Jump – Ariyah Burke – 8th place

Boys High Jump – Geralynn Benton – 9th place

Girls Long Jump – Khayden Hope – 6th place; Oriayha Thurman – 13th place; and Rarlie Moore – 14th place

Boys Long Jump – Geralynn Benton – 5th place; Shamarian Greene – 6th place; and Jacarian Grier – 14th place

Boys Shot Put – Brandon Ridley – 9th place; Marlerio Stone – 11th place; and Drayone Greene – 14th place

Girls Discus – Madeline Dekle – 5th place; Layla Jackson – 7th place; and Marlee Farrar – 12th place

The Hurricane track teams are led by Head Coach Chris Pennamon.

The 2A State Sectionals will be held Saturday at the East Laurens High School Athletic Complex in Dublin.
