Three JCHS Tracksters Head To State Meet

Three Jasper County High School Hurricane Track athletes will be competing at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State Track & Field Championships.

Geralynn Benton, Jakara Tobler, and Brianna Dalton all qualified for the state competition, which begins today, May 12 at Kinnett Stadium in Columbus, Georgia. The athletes qualified for the state meet as a result of their finishes at the State Sectionals held last week in Dublin.

Benton qualified for the triple jump; Tobler qualified for the 400 meter dash and the 200 meter dash; and Dalton qualified for the 3200 meter run.

The field events competition will begin today, May 12 and the running events begin on Friday, May 13.

Tobler, the reigning region champion in the 400 meters, will compete in the preliminaries for the 400 and 200 meters on Friday with the finals on Saturday when Dalton will compete in the 3200 meter run, said Head Coach Chris Pennamon.
