Rodeo Attracts Record Crowd

The Shady Dale rodeo, held last Friday and Saturday, garnered record crowds with some spectators even being turned away Saturday evening.

Competition for the $37,773 prize money was fierce, lasting until the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The photos depict the calf scramble where hundreds of children ran on the rodeo grounds to try to get a ribbon off a calf’s tail for a prize.

The next two photos depict the rodeo parade with the horses always a highlight and they are led by the rodeo queen holding the American flag. Beneath that is the grand marshal, MSgt. Tim Robison accompanied by American Legion, Post 110 Commander Kendra Pieper, driven by Legion member Phil Stafford. The bottom photo shows shoppers at the Round Up festival which took place during the day Saturday.
