JCHS Celebrates Homecoming 2022
Paige Coleman was crowned Homecoming Queen and Lindsey Thomas was crowned Miss Hurricane at the annual homecoming festivities Friday evening for Jasper County High School. Jakara Tobler was named first runner-up. The queens were crowned by last year’s homecoming queen and Miss Hurricane Jasmine Stone and Aubrey Crowe, respectively.
In addition to these ladies, other members of the homecoming court were seniors Lexi Allen, Ema Cole, and Kate Schilling; juniors Haley Beverly, Maddie Dekle, Mackenzie Diaz, and Cortney Wyman; sophomores Anslee Cook, Khayden Hope and Hailey Roper; and freshmen Colbie Ramsey and Anslee Wages.
Court members were elected by their individual grade level classes. The homecoming queen was elected by popular vote of the entire student body. Most clubs and athletic groups nominated girls for Miss Hurricane, then Miss Thomas was chosen as 2022 Miss Hurricane by the class officers and representatives.
As part of homecoming spirit week, each grade level competed for the “most spirited class” by participating in various dress-up days and contests. The members of the Class of 2023 won all of the class competitions and were named the overall winner, earning them possession of the Homecoming Spirit Stick.
“Overall this was a great week for us at JCHS,” said principal Jim Strength.
“The students showed spirit each day by dressing appropriately for the dress-up days. Then that spirit carried over into the homecoming ceremony Friday night and the homecoming dance on Saturday. I’m so proud of our student body.”
Homecoming coordinator Mrs. Johnnie Sue Moore expressed appreciation to the students, teachers, parents and community people who helped make this year’s homecoming a success.
