Janice Edwards Thompson Shackelford

Janice Edwards Thompson Shackelford, age 82, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington.

Janice Shackelford was born on September 21, 1940, in Kinston, Ala. to the late Wilton Edwards and Essie Bell Allen Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Elmer Thompson in 1995; and Roland Marshall Shackelford, Jr. in 2015; and brother and sisters, Hubert Edwards, Eloise Jackson and Margie Reynolds.

Janice lived in Gainesville before moving to Monticello in 1981. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and attended Pleasant Grove Church and New Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching westerns on television. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Before retirement, Janice worked for the Turtle Cove Clubhouse.

She is survived by her children, Lynn (Jeff) Bulthouse of Monticello, Chris (Cindy) Thompson of Gainesville and Brad (Betty) Thompson of Palo Pinto, Texas; grandchildren, Heather Fields, Ethan Bulthouse, Erin Reagin, Jessica McClain, Wilt Thompson, Blake Thompson and Brandon Thompson; great- grandchildren, Kiera Fields, Kameron Fields, Konner Fields, Katarina Fields, John Bulthouse, Everlyn Ramirez, Rosie Reagin, Zoey Reagin, Maddie Reagin, Burke McClain and Charlie McClain; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Williams Payne Cemetery. Revs. Chris Thompson, Brad Thompson and Charlie Edwards will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Heather Fields, Erin Reagin, Zach McClain, Randy Reagin, Craig Salmon and Owen Bales.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home.
