John H. Colbert, Jr.
A celebration of the life of John H. Colbert, Jr. who died September 12, 2022, was held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Dr. Jimmy Horton, pastor/eulogist.
John H. Colbert, Jr. “Teddy” was born August 3, 1949 in Fulton County, to the late John H. Colbert, Sr. and Mrs. Charlene Copper Colbert. John “Teddy” was the second child of six.
He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Colbert, Sr.; mother, Charlene Copper Colbert; brothers: Clarence Colbert and Fred Douglas Colbert; special friend, Shirley Ridley; and niece, Kimberly Colbert.
John graduated from David T. Howard High School located in Atlanta. He was employed by Georgia Pacific for a number of years, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. John was a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello. He loved all people and took pleasure in helping people in any way he could. He was crazy about his niece, Jamie. He loved his family dearly and loved interacting with them as often as possible.
He leaves to cherish his many precious memories uncle, Jimmy Basket Colbert; brothers, Willie Gene Robinson and Jackie Colbert; sister, Mary Helen Colbert “Peaches.” Also, special nieces, Barbara Ann Manning, Jamie Manning, Quiana Manning and Sharon Manning; nieces, Ashanta, Sharon, Clarissa, Amber and Sashay; nephews, Kelvin, Justin, Frederick and Jarman; special nephews, Robert Clyde Manning, Tim Manning and Roderick Carter.
Also, spiritual family, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Stewart, Arkell Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Grier, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grier, and Scotto Rook (and fiancé). Also, a host of great nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
