Cheryle Phillips Thompson
On Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, Cheryle Phillips Thompson, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at age 78.
Cheryle was born on January 1, 1944 in Jamaica Queens, NY to Adele and Eugene Phillips. She received her bachelor of science degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville in 1982 and subsequent masters and specialists in later years. She was an educator for 28 years working in both Jasper and Camden Counties.
In 1961, she married her first husband, Charlie Facciani, and they raised three children, Chet, Charles, and Michelle. She married her second husband, Steve (Jim) Thompson, in Svendborg, Denmark on September 8, 1985, spending 38 years together.
Cheryle had a passion for art, nature and travel. She enjoyed the natural beauty and artistry of a wide variety of destinations including Italy, Paris, Germany, Costa Rica and Alaska.
Cheryle was preceded in death by her father, Gene, and her mother, Adele Phillips, sister Lynn Cregut and brother, Dale Phillips.
She is survived by her husband, Steve, her three children, Chet Facciani, Charles Facciani and Michelle Facciani, and her sister, Jayne Phillips.
She has seven grandchildren, Rachael Montgomery, Mathew Facciani, Sarah Ledford, Simon Facciani, Luke Kinard, Meghan Kinard, Madison Ogles and Natalie Livingston. Her great-grandchildren include Charles Coleman Ledford, Michaela Applegate, Wesley Kinney Kinard, Lauren Kinard Walker and Joshua Kinard Walker.
The viewing will be held at Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello, 264 Hillsboro Street, on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. with grave side services at West View Cemetery at noon, officiated by Father Jose Kochuparampil from St. Mary, Mother of God Catholic Church in Jackson. Donations can be sent to World Wildlife Fund.
