Mary Sandra Coker James

Mary Sandra Coker James, age 59, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Sandra James was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. She was born on March 28, 1963 to Horace Coker, Jr. and the late Minnie Mae Leggett Hicks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Amanda Hicks Harden, and step-father, Charles Taylor Hicks.

Before retirement, she was a bookkeeper for the Jasper County Primary School. She worked as a secretary for Robby Kelly and the Jasper County Superior Court.

Sandra loved to sew, spend time and craft with her cousins and enjoyed helping with Bible School. She loved to make people laugh and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was looking forward to helping with the Shady Dale hayride and was the matriarch of the family.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Shannon James of Hillsboro; daughters, Holly (Joey) Tinney of Hillsboro and Emily James of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Hannah Tinney, Eli Tinney and Bentley “Ben” Tinney; father, Horace Coker, Jr. of Athens; niece, Isabella Grace Harden; and numerous loving cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Fullerton Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jerry Williams will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Harden, Charles Leggett, II, William Calvin Leggett, IV, Brad Mercer, Todd Hallas and Johnny Mack Leggett, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home, 264 Hillsboro St., Monticello.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Bank of Monticello for the Special Account Tommy James, P. O. Box 29, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
