Bartow Harris ‘B.H.’ Maeger
Bartow Harris “B.H.” Maeger, age 96, of Monticello, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at his residence.
Bartow Maeger was born in Canton, to the late William H. “Will” Maeger and Annie Laura Roberts Maeger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Maeger, Richard Maeger and William Maeger; and sisters, Sara Evans and Mary Katherine Maeger.
B. H. served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Southeast Pacific. Before retirement, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Vulcan. He visited Monticello for 15 years before making it his permanent home in 1991. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, turkey hunting and bird watching.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his nieces, Irene (Billy) Milner of Ellijay and Betty (Jack) Elder of College Park; and many great nephews and nieces including Ken Milner.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at Smithboro Baptist Church in Monticello. Officiating will be Brad Klepsiz and Ken Milner.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home.
The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Jasper County Animal Shelter, 126 Mack Tillman Drive, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
