Mary Ann Farrar

A celebration for life for Mary Ann Farrar, who died November 4, 2022 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle is scheduled for today, Nov. 10, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 837 Hillsboro Street, Monticello, GA 31064. Rev. Dr. Jimmy Horton, eulogist.

Mary Ann Farrar was born on May 19, 1948 to the late Willie Lewis Thurman Jr. and Betty Whitlock Thurman. She was united in marriage to Barron Farrar on September 28, 1968.

Mary Ann enjoyed cooking for family and friends. During the holidays, she always opened her home to anyone who needed a meal.

She enjoyed watching game shows such as Family Feud, Price is Right, etc. Shopping at Belks and Macys with her niece Maxine was an enjoyable time for her.

Mary Ann has been a member of Springfield Baptist Church since she was a child and attended school in Jasper County.

She worked for Margaret Jordan (deceased) for over 10 years and was a dedicated house keeper for Linda and Neal Jordan for 50 years. She was a faithful worker for Anna and Bob Edwards for more than 30 years also.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her children, Jerry Thurman and baby Farrar; brothers, John (Carolyn) Whitlock, Pete Thurman, Otis Thurman and James Thurman; sister-in-law, Carol Ann Thurman and brother-in-law, Stephanie Pitts.

Mary Ann leaves to cherish the memories of her life, her husband, Barron Farrar of Monticello; children: Tony Thurman of Monticello, Terry Thurman of Eatonton, Darrell Farrar and Barron Farrar, Jr. both of Monticello. Grandchildren: Kierre Farrar of Monticello, Jakari Middlebrooks of New Hampshire, Dontrica Griffin and Anicia Powell of Eatonton, GA. Great grandchildren: ZaKyiah Standifer, ZaLayiah Standifer and Malachi MIddlebrooks. Sisters: Annie Mae Jones and Betty Thurman both of Monticello; brothers, Willie Thurman of Monticello, Johnny Thurman (Jenny) of Monticello, David Thurman of Columbus, and Danny Rae Thurman of Monticello; sisters-in-law, Beverly Davis of Atlanta, Vickie Hunter of Atlanta, Delores Thurman of Macon, and Chandra Thurman of Norfolk, Va.; brothers-in-law, Randy Hunter of Monticello and David Hunter of Atlanta.

She will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
