Ralph Smith
A celebration for life for Ralph Smith was held Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022 at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Dr. Jimmy Horton, eulogist.
Ralph Smith was born in Monticello on March 2, 1953 to the late John Wesley Smith and Sarah Mae Campbell-Smith. He departed his earthly home on October 29, 2022.
Ralph was baptized at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in his younger years and attended Monticello High School. He loved his family, fishing, hunting, watching sports, carpentry work and working on cars.
He was a dedicated employee at Georgia Pacific Plywood Plant for 37 years where he retired. He also retired from Capstone after 10 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Altheia E. Smith-Parham; grandson, DeShondon J. Seymore; two sisters, Louella Smith and Victoria Glawson; and two brothers, Charles Smith and James Smith.
Ralph leaves to mourn and cherish his memories his son, Ralph D. Smith (Catreda) of Greensboro; daughters, Lydia R. Smith (Dan) and Demetria L. Phillips of Covington; 15 grandchildren: Kelsey, Alkeili, Tyler, Alaiyah, Akiren, Joseph, Zander, Zabian, Jeese, Marquez, Maklya, Skyler, Aaron, Andrew and Danyelle.
Also, a great granddaughter, Delilah Bell-Seymore; an aunt, Emma Davis of Monticello; four sisters, Hattie R. Smith of Conley, Annie “Liz” Langford (Charlie) of Locust Grove, Sarah A. Smith and Wylene Smith of Decatur; five brothers, John W. Smith of Atlanta, Robert Smith of Monticello, Kenneth Smith (Belinda) of Savannah, Frank Smith (Charlene) of Covington, and Scotty Smith (Joy) of Ellenwood. Also, son-in-law, Eric Parham; a very special friend, Ozetta Smith. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
