Diamond Cougars Drop Close Game
Piedmont Academy’s varsity baseball team is taking a few days off for spring break but is set to return to the diamond next week.
The Cougars (3-7 overall, 2-2 in region play) fell to Rock Springs Christian Academy 8-6 last week at home. Several Piedmont players had productive days at the plate.
Zach Simmons was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Simmons also had three stolen bases.
Jamus Wingate was 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Mason Morris was 1-for-4 with an RBI while Chase Taylor was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Alex Statham also drove in a run.
Hudson Reed also had two stolen bases as did Morris.
Wingate, Statham, Simmons and Jayden Litner shared the pitching duties. Simmons had two strikeouts.
Piedmont will return to action on Tuesday against region foe Westminster Christian on the road in Watkinsville at 4:30 p.m. The teams will meet again three days later in Monticello.
