Diamon Cougars Return With Win

Piedmont Academy’s varsity baseball was back on the field Tuesday with a 12-1 road region win against Westminster Christian in Watkinsville.

Sophomore Jayden Litner had a big day at the plate going 3-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI. Freshman Hudson Reed was 2-for-3 with an RBI, a double and three runs.

Gavin McCart added to the offensive output finishing the game 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Jamus Wingate continued his standout freshman season with two RBI.

Zach Simmons, Chase Taylor and Brayden Ross each drove in runs.

Reed and Simmons both had two stolen bases with Tayor and McCart both stealing one.

Wingate earned the win striking out seven batters. Alex Statham had two strikeouts in relief.

Coach Casey Moody’s team will host Westminster in a rematch Friday at 4 p.m. The Cougars will then travel to Flint River Academy in Woodbury on Monday for a 5:45 p.m. contest.
