Mrs. Greene, who as affectionately known as Honey Greene, was born September 22, 1926 in Shady Dale, Ga. to loving parents Henry and Mattie Stinson.

In 1940, wile working in the field, Honey heard the Lord’s voice saying “stop praying for your deceased father and pray for yourself.” She accepted the Lord as her personal savior that day and served faithfully at Greenwood Baptist Church in various capacities including the Usher Board, Choir, Mother Board, and Sunday School. She also took the lead with many fund raising ventures for the church.

In 1947, she was joined in holy matrimony to Frank Greene and to that union six children were born. Honey worked for several years as a cook at the Jasper County Training School cafeteria Honey could be seen on any day gardening and working with her multitude of flowers.

She developed a passion for singing at the age of four and later formed a group with her sisters called “The Stinson Sisters.” She would sing wherever she was called and often added her distinctive touch to songs by changing the lyrics and tune. She formed the C.W. Huff choir with her grandchildren in her front yard. A few of her favorite songs were “I’m a Pilgrim,” “Use Me Lord,” “Packing Up,” and “Trouble in my Way.” Honey also loved cooking and quilting.

On June 16, 2023, Honey answered her heavenly father’s call surrounded by her loving family. Honey was preceded in death by five children, Eloise Greene, Edwin Greene, Marilyn Davis, Michael Greene, and Marjorie Jackson; brothers, Ervin Stinson, Charlie Stinson, Clifford Stinson, Henry Stinson, Eugene Stinson, and Roosevelt Stinson; sisters, Catherine Eubanks and Julia Mae Whitfield, and grandson, Minister Marcus Davis.
