Asher Gray Seeks Commission Post

Asher Gray of a Bailey Road address, has quaflified for the seat of District 4 County Commissioner.

The seat became vacant last month after Commissioner Gerald Stunkel resigned. Mr. Gray submitted the following announcement to the newspaper:

After much consideration, I, Asher A. Gray, filed notice with the Jasper County Probate Court to become a candidate for the Board of Commissioners in District 4.

Over the last eight months I have been actively participating in the Board of Commissioners meetings voicing my concern over decisions being made on behalf of the county voters. I would like the opportunity to serve the citizens of this county by becoming a member of the Board of Commissioners.

I want Jasper County to remain a rural county with controlled growth along with the proper amount of infrastructure. This should be based on the voice of the citizens who live in the county.

My wife, Kortney and I became residents of Jasper County in 2010 until 2012 when we bought a home just outside of Jasper County in Newton County. In 2020 with three children in school, we felt it was time to move back to rural Jasper County where they now attend school.

Since 2012, I have worked for the most prestigious state law enforcement agency in the nation. I am a supervisor for my agency leading and managing several employees.I am responsible for the agency building and facilities. I am also responsible for coordinating and meeting with all branches of local government in my assigned counties. My goal is to continue in a management position with my agency until retirement.

As a resident in District 4, I am respectfully asking for your vote, and for those outside of District 4, I am asking for support for the benefit for the entire county.
